Love is an emotion that everyone experiences in their life. Either a low for something or for someone. People express their love differently. The two poems, â€Å"How Do I Love Thee?† by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and â€Å"The Passionate Shepherd to His Love† by C. Marlowe, each talk about their love for their special someone. The poem â€Å"How Do I Love Thee?† is about a woman expressing her love for a man, and how she will continue to love him even after death. The poem â€Å"The Shepherd to His Love† is of a man who tells his lover to come live with him and all the wonderful things he will show her. These two poems both address the passion of love, the persuasion, love can have, and the attitude love can have. Love is a passionate emotion. It can give meaning to a person’s life. In the poem, â€Å" How Do I Love Thee?†, the speaker expresses her love for a man throughout the poem. The speaker uses repetition to express her love, when she says, â€Å" I love thee freely, as men strive for right./ I love thee purely, as they turn from praise./ I love thee with the passion put to use/ In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.† (line 7-10, Browning). The speaker repeatedly says â€Å" I love thee†¦Ã¢â‚¬  to emphasize on her love for the man. In the poem â€Å"The Passionate Shepherd to His Love†, the speaker shows his passion for the woman by promising to do things for her and create things for her.
